Jack brings to Cruising Yachts years of client service oriented business and sales experience coupled with years of sailing. His basic philosophy is “don’t promise what you can’t deliver, but deliver more than you promise”. He views much of what he does as an educational process more so than a sales process. Jack bought his first boat, an Ensenada 20, 35+ years ago. He had never sailed a boat prior to buying it and didn’t know a jibe from a jib, and measured heel by his pulse rate; when it got up to about 85 it was time to so something! Over the years he has owned a number of different boats including his current one, a Hunter 466. He has sailed and raced on the Potomac River, the Chesapeake Bay, and now on the Pacific Ocean and has chartered in Virgin Islands. Business- work Experience: Beginning with his Peace Corps service in Brazil (and yes he can still get along in Portuguese), Jack was immersed in multicultural training while working as an x-ray technician in a health project. This was follow by his earning a Masters Degree in Education while teaching in an inner city school in Philadelphia for two years. Later Jack created and taught classes in fund raising at several DC area colleges and universities while Exec. Director of the National Kidney Foundation. Moving out of the not-for-profit world, Jack bought his first franchise, an executive search firm based in Northern Virginia. This evolved into two additional offices in NoVA and DC of a temporary staffing company he built from the ground up. A critical element in his successful building of his own businesses was his development and implementation of training programs dealing with all aspects of staffing and employment. After selling his business in 1999, Mr. Silver conducted career transition seminars on Ft. Meade and Andrews AFB for persons leaving the military. His unique perspective was the result of combining over 20 years in corporate executive search, with frontline experience in hiring, managing, and firing, and as a headhunter for major corporations. Mr. Silver was an Adjunct Professor at Anne Arundel Community College where he taught classes on Marketing as well as several adult education classes he developed such as “How to Fund Small Businesses” and “Living and Thriving in a Family Owned Business”. Education: Jack has an M.Ed. from Temple and his BA from the University of Cincinnati. Volunteer Activities: Currently President of his homeowners association and has served on numerous boards of non-profit organizations.
