Have you ever dreamed of cruising the coast of France, Italy, the Greek Isles and other Mediterranean destinations in your own yacht?

Have you ever considered that your dream cruising destination in the Caribbean (St. Martin, St. Bart’s, the Virgin Islands) is over 1,000 nautical miles closer from the Mediterranean than from California?

Would you like to save enough on the price of your new yacht to finance your cruising lifestyle for several years?

All of this is possible by taking delivery of your new European manufactured yacht (e.g. Jeanneau, Bordeaux, CNB Custom Yacht)  in Europe. Cruising Yachts can make this easy and uncomplicated for you with our European Yacht Delivery Program.

Where in Europe can I take delivery of my new yacht?

Your new Jeanneau, Bordeaux or CNB yacht can be delivered to you in France at Les Sables d’Olonne on the Atlantic coast or in Canet en Roussillon on the Mediterranean.

Both locations provide direct access to Europe’s most breath-taking cruising destinations or an excellent starting point for an Atlantic Ocean passage.

Who will commission my new yacht in Europe?

Our European manufacturers have years of experience in overseeing the European commissioning and delivery of yachts purchased by buyers from the United States.

Commissioning services in France are performed by Sailing Atlantic Services (http://www.sailing-atlantic.com/en/home/) which commissions dozens of new yachts every year for buyers from around the world. SAS personnel are fluent in English so language is never a barrier.

A member of our staff will be on-site in Europe to perform the same comprehensive final quality control checks on your yacht that we do on every yacht that we deliver. This isn’t something new to us or our manufacturers and we will make sure that your yacht is in sail-away condition upon the completion of commissioning and delivery to you.

Your yacht has the same manufacturer’s warranty whether delivered in Europe or the U.S.

How much will I save by taking delivery in Europe?

The savings associated with a European delivery are substantial and vary based on the size of your new yacht. These savings can approach $100,000.

Assuming your new yacht remains outside of California for one year from the date you receive title, you will save the California sales tax of approximately 8%. On a $500,000 yacht that savings alone is $40,000. The elimination of freight cost from Europe to the U. S. West Coast will vary depending on the size of your new yacht but can be an additional $50,000 or more.

In addition, you do not have to pay European VAT at the time you purchase your yacht and if you leave the EEC within 18 months you are exempted from it. Upon bringing your yacht back to the U.S. you will be liable for an import duty of approximately 2% of the value of what will then be a used yacht.

When is the best time to take delivery in Europe?

In order to enjoy the summer sailing season in Europe, your delivery should be scheduled for late spring to early summer. Plan to order your new yacht from us in the fall of the previous year to allow approximately 4 months for manufacturing and two months for commissioning.

How can I get my new yacht across the Atlantic to the Caribbean?

Consider participating in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC). Starting each November in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, it has become the most popular ways to cross the Atlantic. The largest trans-ocean sailing event in the world, every year the ARC brings together over 200 cruising yachts making the passage from Europe to the Caribbean. The Caribbean destination is Rodney Bay in Saint Lucia, one of the most beautiful islands in the Lesser Antilles. The 2700 nautical mile passage on the NE tradewind route takes approximately 21 days. Participants have the opportunity to participate in pre-cruise seminars on routing, weather and safety and to cruise in the company of over 200 other yachts.
