Construction and Design
CA DU RE was 15 years in construction in a private yard in Sausalito, CA. The construction process, specified by the designer, and design specifications were meticulously followed by the builder. The construction was monitored and inspected by the surveyor, James C. Jessie, attesting to the quality of the armature, cement pour and curing process. The exterior of the vessel was faired and sealed, utilizing West epoxy. The cabin top is coated with Awlgrip. Above LWL hull and topsides are finished to a very high standard with Sterling LPU paint. The hull is coated with epoxy.
The rudder shaft is discontinuous with a substantial heel bearing and a six bolt companion flange at the upper juncture. The Rudder blade is a hollow stainless steel weldment, well shaped and faired. The rudder is hung on the trailing edge of the full keel underbody.
The center cockpit design configuration incorporates an integral hard dodger. Stainless Steel bow and stern pulpits with stainless steel stanchions stainless lifelines and gates are installed on the deck. 13 light prisms are inset in the main deck which provide an exceptional level of natural lighting below decks throughout the accommodations. 12 chromed cowls provide a very adequate level of ventilation below decks. Each cowl is equipped with a Dorade type system and below-deck closures. Midships, forward of the hard dodger, is a deck storage locker for a 13' Boston Whaler type tender, as well as separate integral deck lockers for sails and deck gear.
LoFrans 110V Titan Model B electric windlass is mounted forward and a second unit is mounted on the aft pulpit. Bitts are provided both forward and aft.
