From SOVEREIGN’s bow: Her anchor chain does not require flaking or stacking when weighing anchor. The chain locker is ample and allows for the chain to “pyramid”. This contributes to her ability to be easily handled, anchored, and piloted by a solo captain.
Following the chain locker is a vip stateroom with a pedestal queen bed, custom mattress, individual thermostatically controlled heat. There is an opening hatch directly over the bed, which fills the room with light and fresh air. All staterooms aboard SOVEREIGN are also fitted with color televisions and dvd players. Generous hanging lockers, drawers and shelving complete this handsome stateroom.
Moving aft, we find a head to port, with opening portlight and abundant teak cabinetry. The spiral staircase up leads to the wheelhouse.
Still on the lower level, moving aft, you enter a truly beautiful full beam width master suite. Portlights on both sides allow for views, fresh air, and a cross breeze at anchor. A centerline pedestal queen bed is flanked by reading lights, bedside tables and farther to the sides are hanging lockers and large dresser drawers, again of solid teak. The ensuite head has a custom neo-angle shower, and another opening portlight in the bathroom. There is a color television, with dvd player adorn this owner’s sanctuary.
A full beam to beam solid bulkhead is aft of the owner’s suite, and access to this suite, along with the forward vip suite are via the spiral stairs, earlier described.
The center of the ship is accessed through a door on the starboard side deck. This room is the engine room and equipment room. Please find pictures of this spotless and simple layout in this listing.
Aft of the engine room is a full beam width stateroom, aft. A teak sliding hatch, in the salon accesses this stunning crew or guest suite. This stateroom is finished to the same degree of superb quality as the rest of the yacht. Once you descend twin berths flank this room, with opening portlights on each side. Built-in teak drawers, desk and cabinet storage abound, along with tv/dvd player. The ensuite head is very generous and is also adorned by an opening portlight, built in seat, and walk in shower. Ample linen storage can be found in this head (in matching teak cabinetry).
Back up to main deck level:
The forward deck is generous, with two built in deck locker/seats, as well as four teak steamer lounges. Moving aft, through the Portuguese flybridge opening is the wheelhouse. The wheelhouse is absolutely beautiful, with cleanly laid out electronics, breaker panels, etc. The seating is high, with a great view and concealed beneath that seat is a pair of front-loading BOSCH clothes washer, dryer, and detergent cabinet. The long seat slide out and can be utilized as a 40” wide full length bed, if needed. (increasing the onboard capacity to 7, if needed)
Open the interior door and down 3 steps is the galley to starboard, espresso/morning service to port, and pantry cabinets.
A large pass-through to the breakfast bar (with two stools) is between the galley and salon. The salon is generous, with stunning cabinetry, and raised seating so those aboard can enjoy the views without craning. Moving aft, through to large custom doors is the heated enclosed aft deck, which is the dining area. This is the gathering place of the yacht at anchor and in harbors. A handsome solid wood sapele dining table, with teak seating for six, along with a full sink service bar are located here as well.
A teak ladder ascends to the upper deck, where plenty of room for lounging, kayaks, the Rendova tender, and flybridge are located. The flybridge forward has additional seating under the large bimini top, and the helm is adorned by a cream, butter-soft leather helm seat by Stidd.
SOVEREIGN of MALAHIDE has a dream galley:
Beginning with aesthetics. A large window and opening portlight is placed over the corner-configured stainless steel sink, and to the right, between the sink and new JENNAIRE gas range is just enough room for a generous cutting board. The gas 5 burner range, is equipped with a full size convection oven, with warming drawer below. The range also sports a wok bracket, where a cast iron wok currently resides.
The range is facing aft, so the chef as a view out the window over the sink, a view to the salon, and aft deck beyond, over the gas range. The breakfast bar is just of the range as well, so the chef has company at the bar, without being underfoot. Spin around and the new full size JENNAIRE French door refrigerator, with drawer freezer below is close at hand. This is JENNAIRE’s latest version, with the obsidian interior and the usual icemaker, etc.
Additional stainless steel galley appliances are the dishwasher, trash compactor, disposal, etc. The same handsome solid teak joinery cabinetry which exists throughout the yacht are found her as well. Extensive pantry and utensil storage is found in this area. A “butler’s pantry” area is along the port side of this area. The espresso machine, toasting station, and serving counter allows those aboard to enjoy grabbing a snack or drink on the way by without disturbing the creation of meals in the galley. The chef is not isolated from the activities and interactions aboard.
Additionally, there is a teak counter with stainless steel sink, and power outlets, on the heated aft deck dining area. A great place for buffet or cocktail service.
We descend from the starboard door on the sidedecks to the engine room. Fresh water is stored in a 600 gallon tank, midship. It is conserved with heads plumbed with raw water. A VILLAGE watermaker is installed, aft, in the lazarette.
Fuel is stored amidships in two 900 gallon tanks. SOVEREIGN of MALAHIDE runs on PEANUTS: On SOVEREIGN’s last blue water excursion (11/2019), she burned only 5.3 gph with her furnace and genset operating as needed! She has a high output alternator, which keeps her large battery bank charged, so most on board needs are handled through her inverter. Her genset needs to be fired up for some high consumers like laundry machines, etc., other wise no need to run her new genset for most of the basics like espresso,, range cooking, etc.
There are sound blankets for her engine and genset, but her current owner has those items stored in the lazarette, as with the ship’s mass, noise is not an issue. Along with the Caterpillar main engine, and Norhtern Lights genset, there is a spare low hour Panda genset, Hurricane boiler system for zone heating throughout the vessel, and ample tool storage with large workbench. Fuel distribution and polishing is well labeled and simple, as shown in photos.
The battery banks (qty of 10, 8d gel cell agm batteries is stored on steel racks in the lazarette, aft. The reason is that batteries hate heat, and the lazarette is cool and dry. The watermaker is also in the lazarette, aft. Fresh water manifolds (hot and cold), water heater, pressure accumulator and pump are under the workbench, to starboard.
NAVIGATION & TENDER
Two vhf radios, Furuno 72 mile radar, Furuno depth/fish finder, two independent Garmin charplotters, with internal antennae, an additional Furuno GPS are fitted on board in the wheelhouse and flybridge. SOVEREIGNS’s current owner uses a personal satellite phone and personal EPIRBS, and a cannister liferaft, which he uses on multiple vessels (these are personal items and not included with a sale). SOVEREIGN is also fitted with a Garmin autopilot with SMARTPUMP.
TENDER: A hard bottom Rendova console tender, with four stroke Mercury is aboard, and is included in the sale. This Rendova has its own chartplotter/HD depth finder fish finder as well. This tender is cradled in a custom, and very attractive upper deck cradle—deployed via a recently installed winch with separate battery and charger.
