The Catalina 36 has a large and beamy comfortable living space below deck.  The private forward stateroom has an extra large V-berth with plenty of storage provided in bins, lockers and drawers.  The head compartment is next aft to port and includes a Jabsco manuel head, vanity and shower.   Adjacent is a hanging locker.  The main saloon has a U-shaped dinette to port which converts to a double berth.  To starboard is a long bench, the center piece converts to a cocktail/game table with two seats.   Also great for a single "sea berth".  Moving aft and starboard of companionway is an IN line Nav Station with ample storage.  Moving aft is access to double berth area, offering a couple of different layouts.  The galley is port of companionway.   Four large opening hatches, in conjunction with the companionway, provide lots of light and ventilation.

The hull is hand-laminated solid fiberglass.  This approach offers high-impact resistance and guards against water saturation and the possible deterioration of a core.  Thru-bolts are used to secure the hull-deck joint rendering a conventional shoe-box fashion.   The deck is hand laid fiberglass with a marine plywood core.   Both hull and deck are reinforced structurally by liners heavily bonded into place.  The deck is stiffened by a rigid liner that doubles as a finished overhead for the cabin interior.
